What I Love About Fall

WHAT-I-LOVE-ABOUT-FALL

School is now in full swing. The air is starting to feel a bit crisper. Here in NC you have started to dress in layers for the chilly mornings, hot afternoons, and cool evenings. When I left the house this morning to take Abby to school, even though it was way too early, I had a little pep in my step as I could feel autumn drawing nearer in the air.

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! The weather is cooler. Leaves start changing. There is pumpkin spice something around every corner. And there is a little holiday known as my birthday. I’m not too thrilled about officially moving into my mid-30s but I still love a good celebration!

To kick off the season on a high note, I wanted to share what I love about fall:

1. What is your favorite fall fashion/clothing item? I’m going to cheat and share two favorites: My Rockstar skinny jeans from Old Navy and my black moto jacket. I am having to rebuild my wardrobe as I have shrunk out of just about everything I was able to wear last fall so thank goodness for Poshmark and being able to shop secondhand. Old Navy Rockstar skinnies are seriously the most comfortable jeans on the planet and a moto jacket goes with everything and adds the bit of edge i love to add to any outfit.

2. How does your beauty routine change in the fall? It is all about the vampy lip! I am obsessed with the Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Guess by ColourPop Cosmetics.

3. What is your favorite fall food? I love tomato soup with grilled cheese when the weather starts to turn cooler! Homemade chili would be a close second!

4. What is your favorite fall beverage? Hot apple cider! YUM!

5. What upcoming fall movie are you most looking forward to? The Peanuts Movie! I’m such a kid at heart!

6. What is your favorite new album? I know Skillet is working on a new album which makes me way beyond excited but I’m not sure of the release date!

7. What is your favorite TV show (which can include new premieres!)? NCIS of course which premiered tonight! I need to rewatch it again to be sure I didn’t miss anything!

8. What is your favorite outdoor activity during the fall? I love taking Chloe on easy hikes at the greenway, watching Abby ride her bike with her friends in the neighborhood while taking in the evening breeze, and taking weekend trips to the zoo! Since its not as hot, the animals are more active and it is a more enjoyable experience all the way around!

9. What is your favorite way to preserve summer as we head into the colder seasons? We look back at all of our snapshots from our summer adventures but we all love this time of year so there is so much to look forward to!

10. What traditions or family activities do you and yours do during fall? We always go to our local corn maze and pick out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch! This year I also want to visit an apple orchard so we can pick apples and make a fresh, homemade apple pie!

Old School Blogging: Full-on Randomness About Myself

It has been awhile since I have participated in the Old School Blogging linkups over at The Miss Elaine-ous Life so I thought it was time to rejoin the fun! It always reminds me of all the surveys back in the MySpace days! This month’s theme is “full-on random” so you’ll get to learn a little bit of anything and everything about me with this post!

If you could be on a reality show which one would you choose?

I know its no longer on air but I always wanted to be on What Not To Wear! I’m not a complete hot mess like the usual clientele of the show but I would love to have someone help me learn the best ways to dress my body!

Name one thing you have saved from your childhood?

My Cabbage Patch doll named Bruce. He went everywhere with me as a kid and now I get to see Abby loving on him too!

If your life had a theme song what would it be?

I would have to go with “Sick Of It” by Skillet! I know its the theme of Blogging for Endometriosis Awareness this year but it covers how I feel about many things in my life. Here’s a shot of me wearing my awesome Sick Of It shirt this past weekend:

Where is your happy place?

I want to say Disney but since I can’t go there nearly as often as I would like, I’ll go with the beach!

What is one thing about your home that you and your spouse disagree on?

Currently we cannot find a color to paint the office/guest room that we agree on!

What is your favorite fruit?

Definitely strawberries!

Bowtie or regular tie?

Definitely regular ties! I think Ducky is the only one that can truly rock the bowtie!

Mexican or Italian (food, not men)?

Oh my goodness this is a hard one! I love, love, love them both! I just cannot decide! Both are amazing!

Where do you want to go on Summer vacation?

We are heading out in less than two weeks to enjoy a nice spring break vacation with my entire family! We are going to Gatlinburg, TN and I am so excited! The resort we are staying in has a massive indoor water park so I am pretty sure we are going to be spending a lot of time there!

I would love to take a trip to the beach this summer! I would say Disney but as much as I love it, I would not ever want to go in the summer. Big crowds and Florida heat & humidity? No thank you!

What are your go-to shoes in your closet?

My black Converse All-Stars! They are so cute and comfortable! I can’t wait to break out sandals though!

A Little Life Update & A TMI Tag!

I am so, so sorry that it has been so long since my last post! If you follow me on other areas of social media, you might now that the migraines I had been struggling with continued to amplify and I was have sometimes 4-5 migraine days a week. Of course with my migraines, I get all of the classic symptoms: hypersensitivity to light and sound, nausea, vomiting, blurry vision, vertigo,etc. Not a very fun existence at all if you can even call it existing. Black out curtains became my BFF and I honestly began to feel like a vampire!

After a few false starts, it finally seems like we may be getting a better handle on things and the number of migraines has gone way, way down. I have to be careful to not stand up to quickly when taking my new medication or I will pass out (which is always a fun side effect) but thankfully after you hit the floor a few times you learn your lesson 🙂

With my return to the land of the living, I am so excited to hop back into the swing of things and get this blog cranked up! The perk of being bed bound for awhile is that it does give you some time to think so I’ve got some ideas I am hoping to incorporate! Yay!

As my first post back, I thought I would do something a little different and I recorded my first ever video post! This is called the “TMI Tag” and I answer random questions that hopefully will allow you the chance to get to know me a little bit better and maybe have a laugh or two! It only took me four (ok, five) tries to get it right and we won’t go into the tears that were shed trying to figure out the editing program. I definitely still have a lot of learning to do in order to figure out the whole video and YouTube thing but it is finally done and I am really proud! Until recording this, I didn’t realize how thick my accent is so don’t laugh too hard!

I just want to end by saying that you guys are absolutely amazing and I can’t put into words how much you guys and this little community means to me! Its such a special little family and I have really, really missed connecting with you and I am definitely excited to jump back in and hopefully chat and hang out!
