Friday Words of Faith – Happy New Year!

Happy 2010 everyone!  I cannot believe that I just typed 2010!  Where did 2009 go?!

I know with the arrival of January 1 comes resolutions for the new year.  The hot topics are either to start something new (diet, fitness routine, etc) or stop something else (smoking, drinking soda, etc).  How long do these resolutions usually last?  A day?  A week?  If we are really good, a month?  I’m not saying that its not important and healthy to set goals.  It really is!  If you saw my post on Wednesday, I have several goals that I have set for myself (though not necessarily tied to the new year).  I just think that sometimes we overlook some more important things.

When I think of the New Year, I cannot help but think of 2 Corinthians 5:17 (which is one of my absolute favorite verses by the way).  It reads, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”  Now if that is not something to get excited about, I don’t know what is!

I cannot think of a better resolution for 2010 to fall more in love with Christ and to passionately follow after Him as it is in Him that I am a new creation!  All of my sin and my old self has passed away and He has made me new.  Each day I get to live with the eager anticipation of spending eternity with Him when my time on earth is over.  How often I take that for granted and do not take the time to acknowledge the amazing gift I have been given.

May God bless you and keep you in this New Year and I pray that we can each strive to follow after Him more closely as if we do, we can change the world!  Happy New Year!

I love hearing from you!
