My Holiday Hoedown Goals – Modified

Holiday Hoedown Challenge

The first week’s non-fitness challenge for the Holiday Hoedown was to write down your goals for the challenge. Since I’m focusing on non-scale victories this challenge, it took me a couple days to finalize which 4 things I really wanted to focus on for the upcoming weeks!

  1. Stay off the scale except on Wednesdays for check-in! This is all about non-scale success, yo!
  2. Operation Quit-Soda-For-Good. Its time to get rid of the chemical-ridden deliciousness for good! There are plenty of other delicious drinks that are actually GOOD for me that I could be drinking!
  3. Do low-impact cardio 3-4 times a week.
  4. Add strength training and/or yoga, 2-3 times a week.

There you have it folks! Keep me accountable! Feel free to pop on twitter and ask me how I’m sticking to my goals – seriously, I welcome it! My twitter name is @newkindofnormal!

The last two goals had to be modified in light of my recent doctors appointments and temporary disability status.

Wednesday Check-in: Holiday Hoedown!

Holiday Hoedown Challenge

Its kick-off time for the new challenge over at the Sisterhood and I am so excited! With the holidays coming up I was really worried about adjusting to being in “maintenance mode” but now I don’t have to! I’ve got an A-MAZ-ING team to support me!  The awesome Healthy Holiday Ho’s to be exact!

Like Shrinkivor, this challenge will have both physical and non-physical challenges every week as well as weekly giveaways!  Woo-hoo! The team at the end of the challenge with the highest weight loss percentage is the winner! However, there are some teams focusing on maintaining weight and/or fitness more than the scales (our team being one of them).

This week’s challenges are log as many exercise minutes as possible and outline goals for this challenge so I am excited to get started!

As I weighed in this morning, I had a momentous occasion! I officially hit my goal weight! 125.4!!!! So I was able to fill in my weight chart all the way to the top! I created this “Motivation Wall” during my very first Sisterhood challenge – Rethink Your Shrink – so it was awesome to see how far I have come! Take a peak:

So I am now even more excited to get this challenge started! Hopefully my appointment at the pain clinic on Monday can help me really rack up some exercise minutes!

Here are my stats:

Starting weight: 164.4

Last week’s weigh-in: 127.0
Today’s weigh-in: 125.4
Change: -1.6

Overall Change: -39

Dear Charlie

I cannot believe that you turn 10 this week! Little did I know 8 1/2 years ago, how much you would complete me. I think that God knew that both of us needed someone special that summer. I remember standing in my VBS classroom when Kenny walked in and asked if I would like a dog and without even hesitating I said yes! Two hours later, you were in my car riding to your new home!

We have been through so much together in the last 8 1/2 years that I couldn’t put it into words even if I tried. I do know one thing is that throughout my illness, you have been my rock.  You have always seemed to know when I needed a snuggle and a doggy head on my lap. Even if you did decide that one of those times should have been the moment I got home from my 1st surgery 🙂 I always knew that I would have you to count on when it was just the two of us. You were my protector and confidant.

We have taken many road trips and you have always been the perfect traveling partner. You are always eager to go for a ride, even now in your “mature” age. I just wish you could teach your traveling skills to your younger sister the Spaz. As much as she gets on both of our nerves, Chloe has been a great match for our family and does her best to keep you young and active. Watching to two of you get the zoomies never gets old.

You have been such a wonderful protector and friend to Abby! I love hearing her yell “Chardie!” and get excited to see you when she gets home from daycare. I wish I had had the video camera for your 3am playdate the other morning. While 3am isn’t the most opportune time for such an event, my heart melted as I listened to her tell you all her secrets and giggle with happiness.

While we celebrate your 10 years on this earth and the wonderful 8 1/2 years you have been my family, it is also with sadness that I write as I know that unfortunately our time will not go on forever. Words cannot express my gratitude to God from bringing you into my life at just the right time and the love that I have in my heart for my faithful companion. You will forever be my heart dog and I look forward to making as many memories as possible while we have you with us!

Love ~ Me
