Wednesday Weigh-in: Shrinkvivor Week #3

Shrinkvivor Challenge at the Sisterhood!I feel so much better about how this week has gone!  Thanks to the encouragement from the wonderful ladies at the Sisterhood last week (after my pity-party weigh-in post), I feel like I have a much better perspective on the challenge and my success in getting healthy and fit has nothing to do with whether or not I end up on Exile Island.  Although, my office just moved closer to home and I would totally love to have that kickin’ bike to ride to work!

We had two challenges again this week – one physical and the other non-physical.  The physical challenges are what count towards team immunity.  This week’s physical challenge was to track your exercise minutes.  I racked up 150 minutes.  I would have like to have done more but again I am really trying to pace myself and not overdo it.  I have mostly been walking but I did a work out DVD yesterday and it about did me in!  I described it on Twitter as it felt like I had ripped an adhesion.  Of course I have no way to know that but if I had to describe it, that is the best way I know how.  So I will be taking it easy today.

The non-physical challenge was no fast food.  And seriously I made it all week!  I did have 2 or 3 of Abby’s fries on Friday but that was it!  No meals out for me!  That is really HUGE!  Of course we were suppose to keep up drinking our water which I did ok but not great on.  Always something to improve on!

So I felt more optimistic about hopping on the scale this morning and this is what it said:

weigh-inHOLY COW!

I’m down 2.8 pounds from last week!  Hooray!  I am so close to that 35 pound mark I can taste it!  I wanted to do a happy dance I was so excited to see that number!

So today if off to a great start!  I had a great weigh-in and am also rocking a new haircut!  I’m a little bummed that my highlights didn’t take (they were suppose to be violet but turned more of a mahogany – don’t know if meds have something to do with it) but I am having a re-do on Friday!  But here’s the cut:

new do

So here are my stats:

Starting weight: 164.4

Challenge Starting Weight: 133.4

Challenge Goal Weight (11/2): 128

Last week’s weigh-in: 132.8
Today’s weigh-in: 130.0
Change: -2.8

Overall Change: -34.4

Challenge Change: -3.4

Let’s Talk about You Tuesdays – The Hair Edition

Photobucket

I’m going to be honest.  I am glad that you lovely readers can’t see me at the moment as my hair is seriously a hot mess.  I am way overdue for a cut and color.  I had an appointment over a week ago but thanks to this unending flare, I had to cancel (boo!) but thankfully I have my appointment this evening!  Woo-hoo! So I’ve taken a couple minutes this morning to flip through some hair magazines looking for ideas.  I know what I want for the color but I need inspiration for a cut.  My hair hasn’t been this long in 10 years! Its thick and wild so I need ideas to tame the beast.

So here are todays’ questions:

1. Do you color your hair? Home/Salon? All over color or highlights?

2. Fess up – have you ever cut your own bangs?  Disaster or success?

3. Do you stick with one particular stylist or whoever is available?

4. What is the craziest thing you have ever done to your hair?

5. What is the biggest goof-up you’ve ever done to your hair (come on ladies – we’ve all done it! ok maybe not as much as I have!)

6. Do you tend to stick with the same style or change it every time you get it cut?

7. How often to you get your hair cut?

Bonus: Pick out a hairstyle for me!  I’m pretty daring so let’s get creative!

I’m still in!

Shrinkvivor Challenge at the Sisterhood! The first official Shrinkvivor Tribal Council results were posted last night and I am proud to say that I am still a part of my tribe!  After my less than encouraging weigh-in on Wednesday, I was on pins and needles all day yesterday.  Seriously, I was a basket-case.  I stalked the Sisterhood and checked Twitter every 2 minutes eagerly awaiting the post.

As I was laying in bed last night trying to fall asleep, I decided to check my phone one last time and sure enough I saw that I had a lot of emails showing activity in The ‘Hood so I hopped out of bed and went to the computer to check out the news!  I was so relieved to see my name still on the Tribe Burgundy list!  Of course I hate hate HATE that our tribe had to lose anyone as all of these ladies rock my socks but we knew it was coming and unfortunately its a part of the challenge.

So I am now refreshed and encouraged to keep pushing myself in this challenge to get one step closer to being the Ultimate Shrinkvivor!  I’m still not quite back to my “normal” but I have been able to keep the pain somewhat at bay this week by upping my tramadol dosage.  Hopefully it just keeps getting better from here!  I see my rheumatologist on Oct 5th so hopefully he can help with the lingering fibro symptoms and joint pain.
