chronic illness

More drugs please!

Ok, I would actually not prefer to add more drugs to the list but after my doctor’s appointment on Friday it seems that I will be adding at least one more.  As if my old lady pill box wasn’t full enough.  Despite my efforts, my cholesterol did come down at all since my last check in October (actually I think it may have went up a couple points).  So the Quaker Oat man lied and eating the maple-flavored cardboard–er, I mean High Fiber Oatmeal to Go–didn’t do a dang thing.  So I have added Crestor to the list.  Since starting on Friday night, I have had some side effects but hopefully those will go away soon.  I am happy to report that my triglycerides made a significant drop (from 313 to 189) thanks to adding niacin to my supplement list (so if anyone is looking to drop their triglycerides or know someone who does tell them to check out niacin!).  They are also rechecking my thyroid (as well as testing for antibodies) to see if the medicine I am currently on is working or if my dosage needs to be changed.  Oh and add vitamin D and potassium to the list too.  Hopefully I will find out those results today.

chronic illness

Bedridden today :(

So I have had a massive flare come out of pretty much nowhere.  I was feeling stiff yesterday morning and experienced some last night as we were walking with the youth after the concert but I was awoken very early this morning with intense pain.  It felt like each of my joints was getting ready to explode.  So needless to say I had to call in at work and I’m missing class on week 2 (yay me) and have spent the day attempting to find a position in which I can be comfortable which of course is short-lived.  These days I am wondering if in fact I am truly crazy.  Maybe my entire body is finally turning against me (versus only bits and pieces).  I have a hard time not feeling completely alone and very defeated.  Good thing I have an appt next week.

bloggingjust for fun

I’ve been tagged!

I’m glad I’ve been tagged *twice!) as I feel like I’ve had nothing fun to post lately so here goes!

The first tag is to open my photo folder to you all.

Here are the official rules:

1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.

2. Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.

3. Post it on your bloggy and tell the story that goes with the picture.

4. Tag 5 other people to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog telling them about it.

Sorry for the goofy expression 🙂 This is a picture of me and our youngest pup Chloe on her first hike at the Broad River Greenway! We had pulled up these old school pictures into an album as we were gathering pictures to put in our adoption album!

Here’s for tag #2–I have to share 7 random things about myself:

1-I’m OCD when I use a public bathroom. I have to lock the bathroom door twice. ALWAYS.

2-I don’t think I was put together right. Here is the on-going list: missing 7 adult teeth (never came in), intestines aren’t attached, appendix was in the wrong place, my left leg is slightly shorter than my right, and I swear that my right boob is twice the size of my left.

3-I’ve got a degree in music education and I am currently working in Telecommunications and finishing a degree in Pastoral Care & Counseling. Go figure.

4-I looooove pepperoni and pineapple pizza. YUM.

5-I have to sleep with my feet towards the door. Any other way makes me completely paranoid. Maybe its some kind of internal feng shui thing.

6-I can roll my tongue two different ways and flip it over.

7-I absolutely cannot sleep with socks on. Even when I try they somehow end up off and folded on my nightstand. Have I ever mentioned that I am weird?

Ok–so now I tag: Janna, Loree, Kate, Amy, and Meredith!

Have fun ladies 🙂
