Balloons, Cupcakes, and Elephants Oh My!

To say that I’ve been a little preoccupied with Abby’s upcoming birthday would be an understatement. I’ve been worried about the weather (still keeping fingers crossed that the forecast won’t change to include rain) and whether or not to decorate the house (which I decided a big YES and will be decking out the dining rooms with zebra-striped crepe paper and hot pink decorations).

Honestly I feel like I’ve been on the countdown for this weekend for several months! And if I”m going to be very honest, I have left little room to think about what this weekend really symbolizes (which could be a whole other post)

Abby turns 2 next Wednesday and since the weekend before just so happens to be a long weekend we decided to plan to celebrate this weekend to make it easier for family to travel.

We aren’t doing a big party this year. After all she’s only 2 and her social circle is fairly limited at this point (we will have a little party with her class at school). Since she has a crazy love for all things animals, we decided that we would take on the NC Zoo! My immediate family is traveling in from Virginia and Hubs family lives in that area so we plan to spend the day taking in the lions and elephants hunting for Easter eggs.

Since we’re having a small affair and all of our family lives out of town, I still wanted to find a way to allow our extended family to share in the celebration of Abby’s two years of life so I decided to send out announcements so I turned to Storkie.com.

Storkie.com has a wide selection of invitations and announcements! I wish I had known about their adoption announcements when we brought home Abby (I dropped the ball on that one!). They also have a wide selection of wedding items (including shower invitations, wedding invites, and thank you cards) and baby items (which include shower invitations and birth announcements).

Of course I was interested in there birthday selection. Since I wasn’t sending out a tradition birthday party invitation, I had to make some alterations which was easy to do using their iDesign feature. I did hit a few snags in editing the text but my computer is not the best in the world so I wouldn’t put all the blame on them. It was easy to drop in photos and I appreciated the warnings I received if I tried to drop in a picture that did not have good resolution which saved me from having a blurry photo card.

The two things that amazed me were how fast I received my product after placing an order (shipped ground service) and the quality of the photo card. The invitation (or in my case announcement) was printed on high quality card stock, not photo paper like I had envisioned.  The pictures turned out great! Here is a peak at my final product (taken with my phone so that is why there is a glare):

All in all, Storkie made it super easy for us to share Abby’s special day with our extended family and made it easy for me to cross one more item of my to-do list! Now its time to bake those cupcakes!

This review was made possible by Mom Spark Media and I was provided the product free of charge but all thoughts are my 100%  own.
